Rolls-Royce took a charge on the Trent 900 program of £186min its 2018 results as exceptional item to cover missed revenues after the recent Emirates cancellation, tooling write-off and faster depreciation of program costs. Blade issues cost another £14m, it was announced today.

I guess they've done their calculation, it's still better than supply engines to those 39 cancelled frames at cheap price and lose even more money on them.

Of course, instead of continuing to pay back part of the outstanding debt every time an A380 is delivered - as was previously the case - Airbus will have to pay back whatever balance remains at end of production. Arranging funding to pay back a € 600 millions loan shouldn't be too much of a problem. I wonder whether the discussions also include an extra interest payment to abide by WTO rulings. Airbus might wish to offset that increase by deducting royalties already paid to the lender as part of the initial contract.

Unfortunately, the thread title shouldn't include question marks any more ... Everything's clear now.

Is 'competence conversion' referring to 'transferable skills' or 'retraining'? I'm not up-to-date with management-speak!

How about the Non-Airbus workers at Airbus factories? Are they included in the numbers above?

How about the Non-Airbus workers at Airbus factories? Are they included in the numbers above? Probably not. Contractor problems are often ignored.
