In this very short news article, it appears Singapore will order 30 A350-900s in addition to the 40 A350-900s already on order. On a related note, it will also order 30 787-10s in.reuters.com/article/2013/05/30/us-singaporeairlines-orders-idINBRE94T0EW20130530edit; XWB beat me to it! I think I've read the article wrong, the order is for 30-900s so that's been changed. This will make SQ the equal second largest A350 operator after Qatar (80 aircraft) with Emirates also having 70 aircraft on order. I wonder why they didn't wait to announce it at Paris (although they will probably firm the order there)?

I never expected Singapore to add 30 more on top of the 40 they already have on order even before first flight! But my biggest question is, where is Leahy finding all these slots? We keep hearing that they are fully booked 6-7 years out. And I think he's beaten his sales target of 80 A350s for the year already. Surely, this can't be the last order for the year? We have rumours about JAL, ANA, LH, TK evaluating bids too. Edit: Also to add, Singapore was one of the early critiques of the original A350, and have put in a lot of feedback into the revamped design. I guess they feel it is their aircraft.

Definitely out of the blue and it appears Singapore Airlines is trying to keep both manufacturers happy. Maybe the slots were reserved as part of the airline's options for the aircraft. As the aircraft has it's first flight and enters the flight test campaign, given that there are no delays, I think that A350 sales will take off (no pun intended). 2013 will certainly be the year of the A350

Jkkw, when you update the total orders post, could you also include an year-to-date breakdown for each type of aircraft?

January American Airlines; 130 A321 Although the exact amount seems to be unclear, some of these will be A319, and think at least 11 of them has been firmed as this? Although up to 50% may actually be A319s

Indeed, it's half A319 and half A321.

Although up to 50% may actually be A319s The order was and still is listed as being all A321s in the Airbus O&D. If I remember correctly, when Airbus stated the order, the order was for the 130 neos and the ceos had yet to be firmed. However considering that delivery is very soon, this may have already changed.

In May, Airbus only booked orders for 3 A320s (Ceos) for Easyjet. They also recieved cancellations for 3 A350-800s from Tunisair, eliminating Tunisair as an A350 customer.
