May 24, 2013 16:33:38 GMT 2 XWB said: In other news, Air China says orders 100 Airbus A320 jets worth $8.8 billion.
From the article linked to by XWB : "The exact amount of the discount remains to be negotiated, Air China said in a notification to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange."
If that is so, the sale may be far from closed ... Yet I don't see Air China going public with the purchase without following through.

When I read the abbreviation "CEO" for the first time (in relation to the A320) my initial thought was that it meant "classic engine option"... Ah well, at least you didn't think of it as "Chief Executive Option".

Seems now like the mix will be 40 CEOs and 60 NEOs You are right:) and it's a firm order.

With deliveries until 2020, a mix of NEOs and CEOs was only logical because the CEO will go out of production in 2018.

Looks like they've revised the target upwards for this year. EADS chief hikes 2013 order goal for Airbus- Airbus is on course to sell more than 800 aircraft in 2013. - The comments point to potentially robust sales at the Paris Air Show next month. - "I am comfortably forecasting that Airbus gross orders will be well above 800 units in 2013," CEO Tom Enders told a shareholders' meeting in Amsterdam. - Cumulative orders between January and April stood at 514 aircraft. - Airbus started the year with a sales goal of 700 after slipping behind U.S. competitor Boeing last year.

Well, considering they are already at 514, that is "only" 286 to go. With Paris apporaching we can probably fill in a few orders that will be placed or firmed. I'd say they have these 800 orders already in the bag.

You forgot the best quote in that article... "(The A350) did not have rivets from Wal-Mart; it was a real aircraft with real rivets and everything else is real as well," Enders said.

You know, I would never have missed that! I can now say with confidence that Yahoo! news updates its articles with more information after the first version is out. I quoted basically everything that was available at first.
