LN 1445 has been stripped from its BA World Cargo titles. All three 748F's will return to Atlas Air as IAG is exiting the dedicated freighter business. N858GT by MiamiSpotter, on Flickr

Great to see 1500 out. It will be interesting to see what Boeing and Lufthansa will do to commemorate her. On Matt Cawby's blog, he noted that Air China's frame, 1499 ended up rolling back into the FAL. Any idea why this would have been done? Is this common? Another of Matt's pics of 1500 seeing the sun.

Also, it looks like the air cargo improvement that the airlines have been seeing over the last few quarters is continuing to look fairly stable. This article is behind a subscription, but I assume it is talking about AirBridgeCargo picking up more 747-8Fs to replace their existing other frames. cargofacts.com/airbridge-reports-a-record-quarter-may-add-more-747-8fs/

I am not a subscriber, and cannot read the Cargofacts piece, but Airbridgecargo is a Russian company, with a possibly specific market position. I would wait for more information before I believe trends on the air freight market have changed.

I am not a subscriber, and cannot read the Cargofacts piece, but Airbridgecargo is a Russian company, with a possibly specific market position. I would wait for more information before I believe trends on the air freight market have changed. Well, the parts I can see of the article basically states that they had a record quarter and are looking to perhaps move to an all 747-8 fleet. They also mention how the reduction in main-deck capacity by other airlines allows them to pick up more business. Regarding the overall trends in the air freight, that is not isolated to ABC. It is pretty broad, across the entire market and most cargo carriers have been reporting growth and better year over year performance. That is not to stay that challenges and struggles are all gone, or that it all can't collapse once again, but it does seem to be the most stable the growth has been in quite a while. The fact that ABC is looking to order aircraft is what really points to that improvement, as I don't think they would be doing this if the market was still as tenuous as it was even a couple of years ago.
