linkNot entirely sure if this is true or not. Would love to see some pics. Now if you'd excuse me, I need to change my underwear after my initial shock of seeing this news!

Qatar Air keen to be new Boeing 777 launch customer- Qatar Airways' top executive said the Middle Eastern carrier wants to be a launch customer for Boeing Co's forthcoming 777X mini-jumbo jet. - "We would definitely want to be the launch customer," he said. "We hope to be one of the launch customers." - Baker said he has no concern about folding wings or other novel design features of the proposed 777X. - Regarding Qatar Airways' interest in ordering additional Airbus A330 planes, he said a possible deal is under discussion, but not close to being signed. - "We have asked for a proposal from Airbus to offer us between 10 and 15 A330s over a period of around 24 months to mitigate the shortage of aircraft we have due to the delays in 787 deliveries and especially now with the grounding of those airplanes recently," he said. - Baker dismissed reports that Qatar had informally talked with International Airlines Group about the possibility of buying Spanish bank Bankia's 12 percent stake in IAG, parent of British Airways and Iberia. - Qatar Airways is not actively looking to buy other aircraft. "We have already finished our shopping list," he said.

Is it me, or did Tim Clark, President of Emirates, hint at a possible Qantas 777X order at around the 15 minute mark?

Is it me, or did Tim Clark, President of Emirates, hint at a possible Qantas 777X order at around the 15 minute mark? Oh wow, 40 minutes? I need to find another time to watch it all, very interesting. I skipped to the Qantas bit as you said. I think he's talking about potential candidates for the 777X in general. I don't think he would know what Qantas's fleet plans are. After all, it's just a partnership. Not even alliance members would know what others are about to order.

Is it me, or did Tim Clark, President of Emirates, hint at a possible Qantas 777X order at around the 15 minute mark? This interview talks at least as much about the A380 as the B777. On doubledecker it should be in another thread. Regarding the A380 I hear there that Emirates will order more of them and come 2020 they will replace old ones with new ones. He says the A380 is the airplane their customers like best and the only thing having kept them from ordering more are space problems in DXB.

Well, if you have flown on their A380's and 777's that is no real surprise. The 777's are 10 abreast in economy which is horrid to me compared to the "spacious" 10 abreast on the A380. In business the difference is huge. On the 380 you always have direct aisle access, lots of privacy and the great lounge/bar area in the back. On the 777's the seating is 2-3-2 and if you end up in the middle seat while paying lots of $$$ you are not happy... I fly on EK a lot and whereas I love their A380 offering I try to avoid the 777 whenever I can.

I also read a lot of complains about EKs 777 product on airliners.net, their seats are not as good as other 777 operators.

I wouldn't say the seats on the EK 777's are any worse than for example KL or AF.
It is just so damned cramped with 10 abreast, although that is no different on a lot of other airlines including KL and AF (unless you have a KL 777-200 which are all still 9 abreast).
The good thing on EK is that the seat pitch is better than on the other.

There are a lot of complaining on airliners.net about everything in aviation..... The business man inside me prefares to look at the passenger numbers and financial results, and let they do the talking
