With the announced production decrease to 6 per month from Q1 2016, the needed orders to fill the production line untill the NEO is online should now be significant reduced It also means MSN allocations will be adjusted. The first A330neo is/was MSN 1795 and that's now going to be a lower number.

With this new rate, any idea how many open A330 "ceo" slots Airbus needs to fill untill the A330 line is all-NEO (+Beluga and MRTTs) somewhere around 2018ish?

Around 150 orders I think.
Airbus said they are working on some deals to avoid another cut.

Around 150 orders I think. Airbus said they are working on some deals to avoid another cut. 150 is a lot ! I wonder ...... I believe that 150 would be the number without the production cut. According to January sheet there was undelivered 193 pcs. There are some MRTTs announced and not in the book yet.... On the other side there is about 95 frames for this year, another than 11x6 =66 2016 + So this covers up published orders and about 30 orders + some MRTTs are left for 2017. So I would guess up to 50 more to sell is needed, no more.

My bad, I thought the backlog was much smaller.
A330ceo production will end in 2019. So based on a production rate of 6 per month they need:
- 95 in 2015 - 11x 6 = 66 in 2016 - 11x 6 = 66 in 2017 - 11x 3 = 33 in 2018 - 11x 1 = 12 in 2019
Total of 272 - 195 in backlog = 77 additional orders are required.

OK - we are in total agreement than - I would say there might be close to 27 MRTT orders announced and not signed yet so 50 to sell is left - in 2-3 years - that seems to be possible.
Up to that the transition ceo - neo might be smoother than announced so less ceo to sell.

Well, at least it will free up some space to help the ramp up of the A350.

No, because Airbus can create more space if needed (like those tents on the A380 site).
