I hope the new order from Emirates gives AB enouph time for further orders from other customers. I think about Chinese Airlines (such as the old order from HNA-Group, about ten planes) and if the new airport in Turky want be the number one between Europe and Asia it is necessary that Turkish Airlines orders the A380 against the Emirates, Qatar and Etihad not for maximum profite but after prestige causes. Also Iran is a country with over 80 million people and we discussed about an order from Iran air for a long time. And what about the Indian airlines ? The Japanes are also able to take 3 more after they received the 3 ANA's. Not so optimistic i think about the american continent, possible Brasilia but it is not realistic. From the old cariers may be British airways a potentiell buyer. The next ten years will show us if there will be further orders. I wish it so much.

Once more I must disagree with you (and I am sorry to say in our friendly disagreements I was more often right ) I remember that we had many enjoyable discussions, and I am not sure that we disagreed in a majority of cases. When we did disagree, I am sorry to say that I am absolutely unaware of having often been proven wrong. Quite possibly, in some cases, we both had the feeling of having been proven right.

unfortunately I am almost sure they will go for the 11-abreast seating. Why ? Look what they did with their complete 777 feet - they did "upgraded" (or better to say downgraded) from 9 to 10 abreast - they did this move of course silently ..... When EK was pressing for a new A380 engine, Airbus came up with several cabin densification counter-proposals , one of them being 11-abreast seating. Tim Clark publicly made it clear - I think three times, but I am not quite sure - that he was not interested because he did not want to risk losing the A380 attractiveness (for the same reason, he later rejected the suppression of the large forward stair). Of course, Clark may change his mind, but it is unlikely. Fortunately, this is a disagreement that cannot last any longer than the time it will take Airbus and EK to firm the order.

I think Tim Clark is on the record for not wanting it. Winglets that is what he would take and refit for sure. Well then why did they go for 10 in 777 ? Where is the logic ? Once more 10 in 777 is more crowded than 11 in A380 - lower deck ! But I do hope for everyone comfort you are right !

Tim Clark can be the one said no but someone else in EK with higher rank can say yes. As we heard from the original A380 deal at DAS, Tim Clark gave a go but someone else said no .....

probably use those A380 to replace their 747-400 ? Given all of their 747-400 will be retired by 2024

But 11 a row was only one of the proposed interior changes. Changing the front stairs with integrated toilets and changing the aft stairs bring quite a few extra seats. I do not think that this is the last Emirates order we will see. I believe Emirates is still pressuring for new engines. I think delaying the engine choice is to put pressure on RR to be a little bit more accommodating. Perhaps RR had also over promised the last time.

I think Tim Clark is on the record for not wanting it. Winglets that is what he would take and refit for sure. Yes he did clearly state exactly that at the Dubai Airshow back in 2015 regarding 11 abreast seating. There is definitely efficiencies to be had within the cabin. Look what SQ just accomplished with their new A380s and updated interior. The new front staircase should also be looked at seriously as DXB has the 2 level airbridges needed to minimize the need for passengers to use the stairs at boarding and de-planing.
