I'm wondering whether increases in production pace may initially disorganise production and cause some delay ... Don't ask me how or why, I'm actually thinking aloud, wondering what we may be forgetting ...

Yes, that might have an effect and we know, that the fourth FAL was still ramping up at the end of 2018. So XFW could be with 3 FALs at 8 and #4 at 4 to 6 for example, that together with the other FALs should have Airbus at rate 52 to 54. But again, how do you account for all the frames that have made it through the FALs and are standing around? Cabin monuments? Seats? Carpets? Pilot chairs? We even have frames having had the first flight and than going into hibernation.

We even have frames having had the first flight and than going into hibernation. The present situation may result from the combination of several causes. The need for an unusual amount of rework could be a temporary fallout from the 2018 year-end rush.

Do not forget that in each plane are thousands and thousands off various parts we have no idea about and each of those must be there tested and retested. Simply just a single one might be missing or returned to the supplier or ...... And we do have a stored plane on the tarmac.

Any FAL must deal with some late supplies, as well as the need for some rework. What seems to be new is that more aircraft than usual are sitting, and we don't know the reason. It makes for interesting discussion !

Looks like an update to fix crew alert messages priority order rather than a flight control problem as with the MAX.

It has ambitions to hike that to 63 per month in subsequent years.
The higher rate allows Airbus to offer airlines earlier delivery slots. The main barrier to increasing its production has been the availability of LEAP engines, so the slowdown in supplying those engines to Boeing may even help Airbus ramp up more quickly.So it seems Airbus has trouble getting enough LEAP engines. on the P&W side we had the news that the Air Transat A321LR are delayed because of engines. I still believe that at Airbus A320 family frames are delayed because of engine. I think the best policy for Airbus at this moment is to really put emphasis into delivering A320 family frames and pull everything a customer will accept forward. Perhaps some suppliers will need cash and turnover as Boeing is cutting production.
