There is one point to the spreadsheet. The McDonnell Douglas - Boeing was a merger not a takeover by Boeing, even if the name for the combined enterprise seems to indicate something else. The current Boeing is the continuation of both MDD and Boeing. So to count the McDonnell Douglas wide body frames after the merger is a bit strange. One should count all frames produced under MDD and later the combined enterprise Boeing, or not at all.

There is more than one way of doing this kind of work. I think it's fine as it is, else you would add up sales of aircraft that were competing with one another.

The frames did not stop competing at the merger.

I show the MD-11s produced after the merger as a separate total, so we can choose whether to include them or not. I agree you can argue it either way.

Spreadsheet now updated with Airbus and Boeing figures for the end of July ; docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LK3NGr1kFwYC9bk8u52J3X28fTAr3kPttsktJYHt2U8/edit?pli=1#gid=0Boeing has delivered 148 widebodies so far this year against 59 by Airbus. Continued slow A330-300 deliveries means the 777-300ER has moved into top spot in terms of total deliveries with 665 against 661. With Boeing still selling fewer than they are delivering, Airbus continues to close the gap in total unfilled orders. Boeing has 1293 and Airbus 1257. Geoff

The figures for model/model series deliveries in 2016 provide interesting insights to the changes happening in the Airbus and Boeing product ranges.
The 787-9 with 78 deliveries so far dominates the 787 line and could break the annual record of 104 set by the 787-8.
The 777-300ER with 65 deliveries is still being produced at record levels but with a declining orderbook it will reduce production in 2017.
The A330-300 has dropped to just 26 deliveries and is nearing the end of its production run. It has been the mainstay of Airbus widebody sales for many years.
The A350-900 is matching the A330-300 at 26 and from 2017 will be the leading widebody for Airbus.
Also on 26 is the 787-8 which has declined rapidly from its top position as the larger 787-9 has taken over.
Plenty of changes to come over the next few years with the A350-1000, A330-900, 787-10 and 777-9 all due to enter service.
