Since this the widebody thread, let me use the above table to point out that in Q4 2017 Spirit delivered 48 widebody shipsets to Airbus versus 55 to Boeing. Strangely enough, the 767 made the (small) difference with 7 shipsets. Boeing's full year lead was much larger : 240 versus 183, a difference of 57 shipsets. These quarterly Spirit reports are an excellent source of information and a good predictor of future deliveries. Interesting to me is that the Q4 figures for both Airbus and Boeing are virtually unchanged between 2016 and 2017. Based on what we know we can expect Airbus to have record widebody deliveries in 2018. Boeing will be a little lower than 2017 but still well ahead of Airbus. Geoff

Although the start of 2018 has been typically very quiet for Widebody Orders and Deliveries, this year will be significant for the EIS of three new models. The A350-1000, the 787-10 and the A330-900. All three are expected to sell well and have substantial orderbooks of a similar size but none looks likely to be a best seller.
The market has changed dramatically during the current decade and looks set to change even more in coming years. At the start of 2010 the three best selling widebodies, in terms of deliveries, were :
767-300ER. 538 747-400. 442 777-200ER. 412
For total sales, orders plus deliveries, the 787-8 led with 670 even though it was yet to enter service.
Now the top three widebodies, again based on deliveries, are :
777-300ER. 770 A330-300. 735 A330-200. 619
Adding orders and deliveries the 777-300ER is still on top with 839.
All three of these models are nearing the end of production.
In the immediate future deliveries look set to be dominated by the 787-9 and the A350-900, which are both being produced at record levels. They will need a few more years before they displace the current leaders though.

June numbers for Airbus and Boeing added to the sheet ; docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LK3NGr1kFwYC9bk8u52J3X28fTAr3kPttsktJYHt2U8/edit?pli=1Another strong end of quarter month by Boeing with 22 passenger widebodies delivered. As expected Airbus delivered their 3,000th widebody. For comparison Boeing has delivered 4,953. Airbus continues to struggle with A330-300 deliveries, does this all relate to HNA’s problems ? Hopefully the first A330-900 will be delivered soon now, the third new model for 2018. Passenger widebody deliveries for 2018 to date, with month of June total in brackets ; 787-9 63(13) A350-900 37(6) 777-300ER 20(5) A330-300. 10(1) A330-200. 8(2) includes 2 military MRTTs A380-800. 6(2) 787-10. 6(2) 787-8. 3(2) A350-1000. 3(1) Boeing total for the half year is 92, Airbus 64. This time last year Boeing had 108 and Airbus 65. In addition Boeing has delivered 17 freighters in 2018 ; 3x747, 9x767 and 5x777. Geoff

Wow, thanks for the update ghorn Airbus continues to struggle with A330-300 deliveries, does this all relate to HNA’s problems ? I would say largely. According to my estimation, there are at least 6 A330s for HNA currently parked at the Toulouse DC, plus 3 HNA A330s waiting at the Tianjin A330 Completion Center. That's more than half of what Airbus delivered so far this year. 787-9 63(13) 787-10. 6(2) 787-8. 3(2) 787-9 deliveries have really taken off. With the recent strong order intake, would rate 16 or 17 be possible? That's some scary numbers to look at.
