PS I live near Bristol UK , so I would prefer a longer runway at Lulsgate (we did have one at Filton but BAE shut the airfield to sell it to house builders !) Then I would not Have to travel 100 miles to LHR or 125 to LGW !!

I just wonder what is the percentage of people going through LHR who really get out of the airport to those who only change planes there.
My bet would be that the letter are huge majority.
I've been to London many times but I believe only once or twice via LHR but I did changed planes in LHR at least a dozen times..... So the question is if those other airports do offer such a chance to change the plane and fly from point A to B via ? ? ?

I have just got a tweet back from @yourheathrow which say TFR passengers is only 36% ! I will try and add a link below ? Hope it works ! EDIT - they are very helpful @yourheathrow

Stealhmanbob - thank you. Interesting and frankly surprising. But of course "LHR" knows what is going on there. In the light of those numbers your concern seems to be valid. LGW has similar access to the town - a bit more expensive comute. STN + LTN are the "seats" of the LCCs and both are more "out of town". Forget LCY. So for people going to London the choice is clear - going elsewhere to England ? If you want to fly to the USA or Australia probably no other choice. If you want to fly to some EU city - lot of choices.....
