Where does this money go to? Compensation to the Airlines from Airbus or do they keep it? I have no idea, it depends on contract wording ! I believe P&W also paid out compensation to airlines, and performed free of charge repairs, but Airbus itself may have been on the hook.

so that's only for 2017 and I suppose we can expect something for 2018 as well ? The wording of the report is that they 'paid' that sum 'in 2017', but I don't feel confident in the choice of words. Writer Vincent Lamigeon also says the sum 'is not in the 2017 accounts', which I don't believe, unless there was a settlement right after the closing of accounts, in which case reporting and payment may happen later. I suppose Lamigeon actually means the compensation is lumped together with other items to hide it from public scrutiny.

From the same link : "The $50 million cost to recover from the knife edge seal problem will increase the company’s losses on geared turbofan engine deliveries this year to "closer to $1.2 billion".
We now have answers to many of our questions upthread ! I hope the numbers includes compensation for last year problems.

please correct if I am wrong. I have yet to see and article that says any Engineer or management personnel has been fired due to all these issues at P & W. that is pretty unique. or is it just the P & W culture to have a product that has a troubled EIS.
