Thank you for pointing to the Flightglobal update, Sciing. The following is their text.
"CLARIFICATION: this article was updated to make it clear that the 30,000hp-rated fan drive gear system at the heart at the geared turbofan architecture is a different component than the main gearbox".

1 redtail I couldn't recognize I think that aircraft is a Sichuan airlines A320.

I wonder whether flying at a lower level actually addresses the problems presently experienced by P&W engines. Maybe ...
Was the decision made by the airlines, as stated in the article, or by DGCA ?

I've just had a look at some FR24 data on Indigo A320neo flights and I've yet to find one cruising above FL300 in recent days so there appears to be some truth behind the livemint article.

The recommendation was from P&W. It is not an operating limitation, but a recommendation to remain below FL300 as much as possible to increase the case air pressure on the dry carbon seal aft of the number 3 engine bearing to prevent rubbing between the bearing and the seal which is creating the metal chips.
Operationally the NEO aircraft is still able to go all the way up to FL398 if needed.
