But could they technically still build them after any CEO production has been terminated? I do not see any difficulties to keep producing a mix of A330ceo and A330neo. They are as it is produced on the same line. Changes to the fuselage, as for example removing A340 features, does not make the fuselage unsuitable to produce a A330ceo. It would just bring about a slightly lighter ceo. The changes to the wing should also not be insurmountable, if Airbus needs a set of ceo wings, they just build them. The wings for the MRTT are anyway special.

I would expect cabin suppliers to drop this line of business soon after the last passenger aircraft has been delivered. Airbus however will keep building -ceo frames for MRTT production. I don't know whether the freighter has a sales potential or not.

I’m certain now that the last A330ceo built for passenger use is the A330-300 being prepared for delivery to Aer Lingus. I understand that the 5 frames for Hong Kong Airlines have been built and are stored pending a resolution with HNA. They will probably be made available on the open market. Apart from the 12 MRTTs all other outstanding orders will be cancelled or converted. Geoff

Will the MRTT remain on future offer or will this have to end with the commercial A330ceo production? Is there any neo-MRTT in the pipeline? Boeing NG-based P-8 looks like being offerable in the future when otherwise only MAXs might be commercially built.

I believe the -200 can continue to be produced for MRTT conversion, alongside the -800/900. Probably not enough demand to justify a new MRTT based on the -800. Geoff

Just think the USAF tired of waiting adds a second tanker to their list? Like we just need something now and maybe as part of some bigger deal? I think the MRTT should be kept on offer. How about Europe taking some more P-8 and the US some MRTT?
