Just think the USAF tired of waiting adds a second tanker to their list? Like we just need something now and maybe as part of some bigger deal? I think the MRTT should be kept on offer. How about Europe taking some more P-8 and the US some MRTT? There are only about 10 European countries out of 28 that might need P-8s, and NATO (UK for one) can cover for some say for Holland and Belgium.

I see that Airbus continues to show some outstanding orders for the A330-200 ( excluding MRTT ) and the A330-300. Looks like 8 of each. I presume no more will be built. Does anyone have a count of how many NTUs there are built but not delivered ?

Does anyone have a count of how many NTUs there are built but not delivered ? Geoff Only those five A333 for Hong Kong Airlines are ntu, MSN1863, 1865, 1874, 1902 and 1907. In my view, they are perfect for Iran. We know Iran wants new planes rather than second hand, because parts for second hand planes are difficult to source for them. And with their dynamic situation and relationship with US, the delivery window could be very short - only a few months like that time. So ready made frames are the best options for Iran, pretty sure that Airbus could check, paint and deliver these five planes within six months if necessary. And parts for A333 are more widely available globally. The same logic could apply to those ntu A339 frames as well, fit with Iran's urgent needs and their recent order very well.

According to the Airbus spreadsheet the 8 A330-300 outstanding orders are for CASC. The 8 A330-200 are for Iran Air. Looks like a three way deal should be possible.
May end up with 5 deliveries and 11 conversions/cancellations.
