Is it possible that EK cancelled the order as kind of pressure to gain new landing rights in Europe specially Germany and France? I think we're reading too much into this. It's just the case of EK having found the ideal aircraft for their future fleet strategy. The 777X does everything better for them than the A350 which they placed the order way back in 2007. They seem to be happy with a fleet of 777X and A380. I don't see anything else joining them for the better part of the next decade.

I think TK would happily take up the new delivery slots, as they are desperate to expand there fleet.

OK - they finally stated what was obvious - they do need a plane for 250-300 people !!!!! The postpone makes sense for being afraid of early frames which are (must be) always inferior to the later ones.

I don't think it is related to early frames since their delivery was suppose to start in 2019

True concerning the 900 but not the 1000, so what is it - fight for better price ?

Well, that's what they say, but their order consisted of 50 A359s and only A35Js ... This is the first time I hear EK wanting less capacity or less range ... I think they are interested in the 787-10. This is an order Boeing should not lose, unless a stellar operating performance from the A359 turns the tables again.
