Airbud has started assembly on MSN1627, which is the first 242t 330-300, going to Delta The tail fin says MSN1628, seems that something has changed and the ATDB has not been updated yet (unless Delta takes 1 non-242t A330). Seems that there are 2 frames currently being assembled... Is this a certain, but small, level of testing needed as this is a first aircraft with improved MTOW? It will need certification apparently... (both quotes from Airbus' press release posted by jkkw)

Would both A330/242t in assembly be A330-300s/242t or one of each A330-200/242t and A330-300/242t?...
Would it be clearer if we set a separate thread for this variant?

Both are -300s, the -200 will EIS a bit later.

The way I understand it, this first frame is not for Delta, it is a test airframe. Delta will receive the next 242 tonne airframe (and first production frame), with a scheduled EIS in Q2 2015.

My impression is they will get both? I have no idea about whether or not the test airframe will eventually be sold to DL.

First 242t A330 has entered the FAL /photo/1 The A332 is a 15 hour aircraft! Wow! That's like on the upper end of long haul. On the other hand, I would really like to know how they got 6% better total operating costs vs. the 787-9... This would include ownership costs and probably take the worst case 789 against the best case A330.

Is that A330-300 has more capabilities? What is the range?
