I though they were going to stick with a two aircraft type fleet, A380 and 777?

I though they were going to stick with a two aircraft type fleet, A380 and 777? Emirates has been talking about ordering up to 70 frames, either 787-10 or A350-900.

Ah strategic aero research, the most reputable and unbiased source of aviation news out there (note the sarcasm) There might be some truth in that article, idk but fortunately I'd recommend taking the following amount of salt whilst reading that article (not literally please, I don't want anyone dying!!) (image of a salt mine, taken somewhere from google images) (BTW, the criticism in this post is directed completely at strategicaeroresearch and in no part to the wonderful news updates that Kronus continues to contribute here )

It is necessary to say that the mentioned article + all the others on the web are simply written by an Airbus (Bombardier) hater - Boeing lover. I do not believe there is any credibility to his fantasies.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum was recently reported to have announced EK would order either the 787 or the A350 by year-end, most probably at the Dubai air show. www.thenational.ae/business/aviation/sheikh-ahmed-emirates-to-decide-on-boeing-or-airbus-multibillion-dollar-order-1.616098Whether this actually happens remains to be seen, as EK has delayed its decision several times. In the meantime, we have persistent rumours about major deferments from the ME3, and QR already has cancelled four A359s. One recurring rumour is a 778/9 deferment by EK. In that context, I wonder if we could have a conversion from 778/9 to 789/-10, which Boeing certainly would not like, but the deal would also end any hope of seeing the A350 flying in EK colours. I hope not, of course ...

If true, this is not surprising. EK doesn't seem to be in the best position to make strategic decisions. The airline may also want to try to convince financial markets that they have a prudent investment policy.
